Upon finishing the tutorial in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, players can go out and explore the different cities and areas, but they must not forget to save their progress constantly. Like most RPGs, the game is filled with branching dialogues, important decisions, and combat encounters that can impact your experience. In these moments, Manual Saves and Autosaves become essential tools to prevent unwanted setbacks or to retry alternate outcomes.

To claim Oblivion Remastered Deluxe Edition content, you must complete two quests to unlock exclusive armor, weapons, and horse armor.
While the Autosave feature is useful, relying on it alone isn’t always enough. Manual saving gives players full control over their progress, especially before risky scenarios. Knowing how the saving system works—and using it wisely—can make your journey through Cyrodiil much smoother. This guide offers information on how saving works in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
How to Save In Oblivion Remastered
Right after you complete the character creation and your playthrough commences, you will have the option to save the game from that point onwards. To do so, you must open your journal and navigate all the way to the right to the System tab. It is here that you can save your game or load an existing save file. As the game also supports Quicksave, you can use that in case you don't want to go through the process of saving. On PC, you can Quicksave by pressing the F5 button on your keyboard. Do keep in mind that there is only one Quicksave, so making a new one will overwrite the previous one.
You can also use the "save [name]" console command on PC, which allows you to create a save file with your chosen text.
Despite the Quicksave coming in handy at times, it is best not to rely heavily on the feature and stick with manual saving throughout the game. The game provides a lot of save files, so you don't have to worry about running out anytime soon. The game also supports an Autosave feature, which has five slots that get overwritten when a new one pops up.
When Does Oblivion Remastered Autosave?

Autosaving in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered occurs quite often, giving players a reliable fallback if they mess up haggling with an NPC, accidentally kill someone, or just want to undo a poor decision. The game autosaves every time you enter or exit a building, dungeon, or landmark, which helps maintain progress during exploration. It also autosaves when you fast travel or sleep in a bed.
